Interiors by Herzog & de Meuron

Chiseled into pleated white stone and metal, the Beijing flagship designed by Herzog & de Meuron is emblematic of TOTEME’s sculptural aesthetic. Inside, a hollowed structure soaring in height breaks traditional proportions, creating space for a distinctly TOTEME language of geometric form and natural elements.

Floor and ceiling in high-gloss lacquered oak parquet nod to the craft of traditional Chinese furniture and objects, framing a gentle and precise world lined in pleated white fabric that softly echoes the building exterior. Accessories rest on panes of rippled glass, a subtle reference to Swedish glassmaking traditions.

The towering staircase, with its totemic presence, is the flagship’s defining form. Made of steel plates and finished in high-gloss lacquer, it blends an emblematic TOTEME structure with a gongshi, or viewing stone, from a traditional Chinese garden as it connects the street level with a second entrance on the upper floor. There, a three-dimensional installation of scenes from Ingmar Bergman films pays homage to the Swedish director.
