829 madison avenue

TOTEME has opened its doors on Madison Avenue. Paying tribute to the eccentric spirit of the Upper East Side, the new NYC store is bold and expressive, blending TOTEME’s modern minimalism with playful, surrealist details.

A sculptural staircase dominates the ground floor, its spiral shape and high-gloss red color lending drama to the double-height space. “Half Girl (left)”, a polished bronze sculpture by contemporary Swedish artist Anders Krisár, is displayed below. The staircase's stone steps echo the Portuguese limestone skirting, exaggerated frames, and floor-to-ceiling library shelves, enhancing the grand atmosphere.

Upstairs, the mood becomes more intimate. Carpeted floors and custom vitrines showcase fine and Signature jewelry, while a corridor leads past shelving displaying shoes to a sitting area anchored by a red lacquered daybed by Mats Theselius.

“The Madison Avenue store recalls a New York pied-à-terre, its exaggerated proportions and sculptural details carefully assembled within a minimalist structure to create an intimate yet unstuffy atmosphere. Lending a bold, expressive dimension to our retail presence in NYC, it responds to the independent energy of the Upper East Side.”

The Madison Avenue store was designed in collaboration with Swedish architect Halleroed and captured by François Halard.
